Hello, I’m Cathy Brown! I am a California credentialed teacher with over 20 years of experience helping elementary, middle school, and high school students build confidence and become independent learners. I believe every student is capable of learning—it’s simply a matter of discovering the approach that works best for them. Together, we’ll build lifelong learning skills that extend far beyond the classroom. My greatest passion is helping students gain confidence and realize how empowering learning can be. Rather than simply helping students finish assignments, I teach students how to approach problems, study effectively, and become independent learners who can succeed long after our sessions end. Whether students need support in reading, mathematics, science, or Advanced Placement coursework, my goal is to help them develop the skills and confidence needed for long-term success. I bring extensive teaching experience across public schools, private institutions, homeschooling, and livestream edtech platforms. I have designed and delivered complete curricula—including classroom lessons, labs, and field trip programs—for AP Environmental Science, Biology, Physical Science, and Life Science. My subject expertise includes: Sciences: AP Environmental Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Life Science Mathematics: 2nd–8th Grade Math, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II Literacy: Currently part of a 2nd & 3rd grade reading initiative, working closely with phonics learners to build strong foundational reading skills Beyond formal classes, I have always been committed to supporting students individually. As a brick and mortar teacher I offered tutoring during lunch hours and after school to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
