Bio

Hello! My name is Mrs. Dawson. I love helping students learn and grow by meeting them where they are as learners, providing strong foundational skills, and filling learning gaps while connecting learning to current content. I have a particular passion for helping people of all ages learn to read, especially those with reading and learning disabilities. As your tutor, connecting with you as both a learner and a person is important to me. We are all individuals with unique talents, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. No two people are alike and no two educational experiences are exactly the same. I will help you determine YOUR learning journey! Fun facts about me: I have three cats. My favorite color is purple. My favorite animal is the sloth. My husband, daughter, and I like to perform together in theatre. I look forward to meeting and learning about YOU!

Teacher Specialization

I am a Florida certified Elementary K-6 educator with the Reading Endorsement and Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator trained. I primarily taught 1st grade and provided reading interventions to multiple grade levels. In addition to experience as a classroom teacher, I homeschooled my own child who has Dyslexia. I am passionate about providing strong foundational skills and filling learning gaps. My philosophy is to meet students where they are while connecting their learning to current content.
