Bio
Hi there! I’m Dr. Elena Santana, a certified Florida educator with endorsements in Exceptional Student Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Reading. I hold a PhD in Engineering & Computing Education, a Master’s in Software Engineering, and four additional degrees in complementary disciplines, including English and English Literature. I’ve taught thousands of lessons to learners from early childhood through adults in virtual, homeschool, and traditional settings. I teach math, reading, language arts, ESL, and SAT/ACT prep using explicit, structured instruction paired with encouragement to build confidence and independence. I specialize in personalized learning, literacy development, and language acquisition, supported by my combined technical and humanities background. I am skilled in supporting diverse and exceptional student populations and keep younger learners engaged with digital props, humor, and interactive tools. My approach is patient and student-centered.
Teacher Specialization
My teaching specialization is built on extensive experience delivering thousands of online classes across math, reading, language arts, technology, ESL, and test preparation (ISEE, SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS). I am trained and certified to support students with learning differences and disabilities—including ADHD, dyslexia, developmental delays, and autism—and I am Orton-Gillingham certified. I design interactive, student-centered lessons that build confidence, language proficiency, and independent learning. Younger learners benefit from humor, digital props, and creative tools, while older students receive focused support in academic English, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective test-taking strategies. With a PhD in Engineering & Computing Education and a Master’s in Software Engineering, I bring strong academic expertise, patience, and adaptability to support diverse and multilingual learners.
