Bio
Welcome! My name is Emily and I am so excited to meet you! I believe learning should be fun, creative, and full of “aha!” moments. I take time to get to know each student’s needs and create engaging, step-by-step lessons that make tough skills feel achievable. I use plenty of praise and a growth mindset—reminding students that when something feels hard, it just means we get to practice it together until it clicks. My goal is to help you become a confident, curious learner who enjoys discovering new things and feels proud of your progress. Every session is a safe space to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow at your own pace. I’ll be right there to cheer you on, explain things clearly, and make learning feel comfortable and fun. When I’m not tutoring, I am a lifelong learner who loves visiting museums, reading, and solving puzzles. I’m a proud mom of three and a pet parent to five rescued animals—three cats and two dogs.
Teacher Specialization
I have over 22 years of experience teaching and tutoring students from kindergarten through adult education in both classroom and online settings. I’ve served as a teacher, tutor, English Learner Program Director, and Assistant Principal. I hold California credentials in Multiple Subjects and English Single Subject and am certified to teach K–5 Multiple Subjects, 6–12 English, and K–12 English Language Development. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from the University of Southern California and my Master of Education from the University of San Diego. I’m passionate about supporting diverse learners—including multilingual students and students with disabilities—and helping every student build confidence and achieve academic growth through personalized, engaging instruction.
