Bio
As an experienced English teacher who has received both a teacher of the year award and top grower (for outstanding student growth in ELA) award at my school, I aim to provide opportunities for all students to be successful in both reading comprehension and writing. Having an M.S. Ed. in Education, with a focus in special education/instructional specialist K-12, has given me the knowledge and experience needed to help students be successful. But more importantly, building relationships with students is my highest priority in my teaching philosophy as it is vital for students to feel cared for and heard before being able to comprehend classroom instruction. Furthermore, my classroom is focused on student-centered lessons and activities while I support students along the way. My ongoing objective is to provide students with all the tools needed to be successful in hopes they will take full advantage and surpass any and all expectations set for them.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught grades ranging from 4-9 in both English and history. I have also worked in several classrooms as an intervention teacher to help with students' reading comprehension and writing skills. The majority of my time in the classroom has been spent teaching 8th grade ELA with a focus on writing. Every year that I have taught, I have been given the opportunity to teach a mixed level of classes: general education classes, honors level classes, and intervention classes.
