Welcome. My name is Jessica Akins, and I teach with sparkle. My favorite color is glitter, and yes, in my world, glitter is a color. One of the things I love most about teaching and tutoring is getting to know my student's personal likes, dislikes, and goals. My philosophy is everyone can learn and feel like a genius if the information is presented in a meaningful and relatable way. I want to make your learning have meaning in YOUR life. I strive and love to make learning fun. I have a talent for explaining topics and problems in a unique and relatable way. I look forward to helping you sparkle!
Teacher Specialization
I have 13 years of teaching experience in a wide variety of grades and subjects. In my 13 years, I have taught Elementary Education, Pre-k through 12th-grade special education, ESOL, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Middle School Science and English, 5-8th grade math, and several other courses. I hold 2 degrees, a BS in Elementary Education and a MS in Special Education, and I am currently working on my 3rd degree, an Educational Doctorate in Curriculum Instruction and Design.
