Bio
Hello! I’m Joanne Mejia, an educator with 29 years of experience—20 in the classroom and 9 online. I’ve taught grades K–6, working with mainstream, special education, and English language learners. I’m passionate about student growth and creating inclusive, engaging learning environments. I believe every child has unique strengths, and I focus on building strong relationships, encouraging curiosity, and making learning meaningful and fun. I’ve led curriculum initiatives, mentored teachers, and supported district-wide professional development. I’ve been recognized as a Highly Qualified Teacher and a classroom-inspired leader for my work with bilingual students. I hold a B.A. from Central Connecticut State University and an M.A. from the University of Connecticut, with certifications in K–6 Education, ESOL, and Bilingual/Bicultural Education. My teaching style is warm, structured, and creative. I blend patience and hands-on learning to make every lesson impactful and memorable!
