Bio

I believe students learn best when they are in a supportive environment and aren't afraid to ask questions. I believe in acknowledging a student's strengths and pointing out when they need to try again. Tutoring is scaffolding; laying supports around a child until they understand fully and can soar on their own. They need an uplifting teacher who can also challenge them to rise to their potential. The goals of tutoring are as follows: improve understanding of subject matter, boost academic confidence, engage in problem-solving skills, overcome learning obstacles, fill knowledge gaps, develop study skills and habits, improve grades, and encourage lifelong learning through growth in self-esteem. Students need to know I believe in them. This begins by growing a relationship with LOTS of positive reinforcement. In my classroom, students are encouraged to answer and ask questions as well as take chances while receiving helpful and supportive feedback.

Teacher Specialization

I have been blessed to teach for 8 years, including Pre-K, kindergarten, and 4th grade in the classroom. I then switched to virtual teaching in 5th grade and now 4th. I graduate from Stephen F. Austin with a bachelor's degree in social work and went on to earn my teaching certificate through the University of Texas at Dallas certification program. My certifications are EC-6 Generalist, EC-12 Special Education, and an English Langauge Learners endoresement.
