Bio
Hello! I’m Mrs. Williams, and I’m so happy to be working with your student for the remainder of the school year. I strive to be a kind, patient, and encouraging educator who brings enthusiasm and strong social-emotional support into every lesson. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where students feel confident taking risks, learning from mistakes, and progressing at a pace that feels right for them. As a native Spanish speaker with a strong passion for science, I love sharing my excitement for reading the Harry Potter series, discovering amazing facts about insects and animals, and exploring inspiring innovations in technology. I enjoy nurturing curiosity and helping children recognize the excitement and beauty in the world around them. Above all, I aim to support each student exactly where they are, guiding them with patience, confidence, and consistent encouragement.
Teacher Specialization
Every child can learn and grow with the right support, encouragement, and belief in themselves. I offer tutoring in reading, writing, math, science, and Spanish, bringing over 10 years of teaching experience and currently in my third year of virtual education. I hold a master’s degree in Education from UCLA and began my career with AmeriCorps, the domestic Peace Corps, where I supported students from kindergarten through sixth grade in developing strong reading skills. In the beginning of my teaching career, I also had the opportunity to work with multilingual learners whose first language was not English, including students from China, Colombia, Yemen, Central America, and Mexico, helping them learn to read with confidence. I have taught life sciences at both the middle school and high school levels, and I consistently emphasize the power of “yet” — helping students understand that not knowing something right now doesn’t mean they can’t learn it.
