Bio
I believe everyone can learn, but we all don't "learn" the same way! I love using pictures, real-world examples, and rhymes to introduce a topic, and I often use a gradual release model while teaching. I model first, then the student and I do a similar task together. Finally, the student will complete the task independently, and I will give feedback to fix any mistakes. I teach so that my students can gain access to a whole world of opportunities that education provides. I want the best for everyone I meet, and one of the best ways to positively influence our world is through teaching. Learning starts in a safe environment, where everyone feels comfortable, heard, valued, and seen. A little FUN never hurts either! Hi! My name is Ms. Kayla, and I love being outdoors- some even joke that "I'm solar-powered!" I love learning and have been known to take classes simply for fun!

As a teacher with over a decade of experience, spending several years teaching virtually during COVID, I have built a life around helping children realize their own potential! I've been trained in the Science of Reading, Conscious Discipline, Restorative Justice, Project-based Learning, and have spent the last four years teaching Math, Science, and Social Studies at an IB Elementary School in Colorado.
