Bio

I am an experienced and passionate elementary educator. I bring creativity and interactive learning to my classroom. My teaching philosophy is rooted in compassion, empathy and meaningful connection. Whether in my classroom, or teaching online, I create an environment where students feel valued, important, and inspired to learn. My personality both in and out of the classroom is fun loving, I'm excited about education. I have a unique ability to deep dive into subject matter by making sure the student is the most important part of the process, helping to guide instruction, and by being easy to relate to by all ages of students. It is my belief that learning should always be exciting, fun, yet full of purpose. I am also a children's book author recently publishing my first book in a series about real-life rescue dogs turned super heroes. This allowed me to create by writing, which I love to do, as well as bring about more awareness regarding rescue animals. Never stop learning.

Teacher Specialization

I have taught in the elementary school setting for twenty years. I started as a long term substitute in vacancies, and loved teaching so much I pursued my degree and became a full time teacher. I have spent most of my teaching career in the classroom teaching second, third and fourth grade, however I have also spent the last three years after school tutoring online, all subjects up to seventh grade. I spent a year during Covid teaching online and created most of my lessons for several different subject areas. In addition to my certification in elementary education, I am certified in K-12 reading, certified in ESOL and have taught ESE students every year. I have had numerous professional development classes in various areas of education. I am also successful teaching ADHD students virtually. I take the time to research standards required, student needs, preview lessons, homework, and make sure I am completely prepared for my lessons in both the the classroom and virtual settings.
