Bio

Hello everyone! I am excited to embark on this learning journey with you! I believe that learning is a treasure that accompanies its owner everywhere. My lifelong love of reading has motivated me to want to instill this in my students. When I see them interpreting literature for themselves or having meaningful discussions with their peers, I am witness to their progress as a learner. I believe that methods that are student centered and challenging, are key to authentic learning. Students must be able to be in an environment where they are respected and in a comfort zone where they are free to ask questions. As a classroom teacher of English/Language Arts for 28 years, I look forward to working with you in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Teacher Specialization

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Louisiana State University. I have also attended the University of New Orleans Graduate School. I am certified in Secondary English grades 6-12. I also hold a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certificate in ELA/Early Adolescence. I have 28 years of experience in the classroom, with 3 of those years as a Master Teacher. I also have 5 years of experience working with teachers and students at the district level.
