Bio
Hello! My name is Marisa, and I can't wait for us to get started! I am passionate about teaching children to read and recognize the social-emotional impact of dyslexia and other reading difficulties students face as they work to strengthen their decoding, reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary skills. I believe a teacher must be knowledgeable in the subject area and have a strong desire to connect with each student, offering encouragement, patience, and flexibility while utilizing creativity in their lesson delivery to meet each child's unique needs and learning style. I provide a fun, engaging, multisensory approach to learning!
Teacher Specialization
I have worked in education for twenty-seven years as a private tutor, elementary and middle school classroom teacher, and instructional coach with experience in K-8 literacy intervention, educational and second language testing, parent and teacher support, and adult education. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
