Bio
My educational philosophy is always student centered. I work to create a multi-sensory approach to all lessons in order to encourage engagement and retention. I work to help students achieve their academic goals as well as increase critical thinking skills through high expectations and individualized instruction. I believe building strong relationships with every student I work with is the key to finding success and reaching academic and personal goals. I live in rural southwest Virginia with my poodle, Murphy. We live on family land with my sister's family on one side and my parents on the other. I lived in Colorado Springs for 8 years and love all things Colorado! Go Broncos!
Teacher Specialization
I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Education in 2010 and my Master of Education-Special Education in 2017. I worked in a local rural school system for the first several years of my career where I taught special education for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade before transitioning to Virginia Virtual Academy in 2024. Each summer, I work at our local community college to teach English Literature and Creative Writing to high achieving students in 9th-12th grade. I have worked in many environments and with students of varying ages and needs.
