Bio

Learning shouldn't be a struggle. Yes, some topics and subjects are more difficult to understand, but if learning is made meaningful and instruction is interesting (and fun!), anyone can learn anything. I believe strongly in the importance of active reflection and mastery learning. I teach more than a subject; I teach my students how to learn, how to think critically, and where to find answers to their questions. With me, my students learn that mistakes need to happen for learning to take place. My patience level and corny "dad jokes" are the stuff of legends, and I've met very few students who didn't enjoy being taught by me. I absolutely adore teaching anything related to English/Language Arts and my native language (German). After many, many years of teaching in both traditional and online schools, I'm attempting to semi-retire by tutoring. I just can't bring myself to give up teaching. Maybe I'll try teaching my cats German? lol
