Bio
Hi! My name is Pamela Mehr. I struggled with math in school. I decided to put it in front of me in college and conquer that fear. I am able to make students feel comfortable and empowered because I use social emotional learning while teaching subjects that are difficult. My students are empowered when they begin to master the difficult subject they are working on. Self esteem is very important to me and I do my best to promote good self esteem throughout the learning process. I give my students the skills they need to succeed. Making them self-reliant is what teaching is all about.
Teacher Specialization
I have been an educator for 30 years. I have taught in both public and private school systems. I have a bachelors degree in middle grades math/science/social studies. I have a masters degree in curriculum and instruction. I have certifications in elementary education, middle grades education and high school special education. I have both general curriculum and adaptive curriculum certifications and am training to achieve my Registered Behavioral Technician certification so that I can understand and better help children with autism. I have 18 years experience in teaching middle grades mathematics. I have taught science at the elementary and middle grades level and have taught social studies at the elementary level. I am currently tutoring a middle grades student in math, social studies and writing. I am able to scaffold learning skills to ensure understanding of the subject.
