Bio
https://book.tutoring.k12.com/tutor/paul-la Hi, I'm Paul LaQuesse. I'm excellent in Math so I can help you in your math courses. I try to get to know the areas of need for my students so I can fill in the knowledge gaps. I have been recognized as a semi-finalist for teacher of the year in Stamford, CT and I have helped teachers improve practice and student engagement as a math coach. https://book.tutoring.k12.com/tutor/paul-la My philosophy about teaching as a tutor is to get down to business. We have 30 to 60 minutes to cover complicated material. Although I believe in social-emotional learning, in addition to coursework, I think tutoring is mostly about knowing the topic. I believe in engaging students in the material so it gains their interest. In the end, my goal is to help you gain knowledge and understanding and it's important to me that students are successful at this.
Teacher Specialization
I have a Master's degree in education with CT state certifications in math and English 4-12. I was semi-finalist for teacher of the year during my career in Stamford, CT and I have taught high school math through precalculus for 20 years in Stamford, CT. I have experience teaching virtually because I had to do so during COVID days. I also have tutored virtually. It's important to have a good whiteboard and pen to be effective. My best subjects: algebra, geometry, trigonometry and precalculus
