Bio
Hi! My name is Rachel! I am a mom of 2 and a bonus mama of 3. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy working out and running. An interesting fact about me is that Mickey Mouse and I share a birthday! The main reason why I wanted to be a tutor is because I miss being in the classroom with students and watching learning take place. Students learn best through differentiation strategies. I believe all students have their own "mode" of communication when showing their educational strengths. Everyone learns differently so everyone's output is different. My goal with tutoring is to provide a positive learning experience and have students enjoy the subject they are getting the extra help in. If you have booked a session, chances are the subject you are here for may not be your favorite, but hopefully after a few sessions with me, you will begin to enjoy it and become more successful going forward.
Teacher Specialization
I have been both a regular education and special education teacher with combined teaching experience of 14 years. I have a Masters in Special Education and my FAVORITE thing to teach is WRITING! Writing CAN be a challenging area for many students but for two years in a row my 4th and 5th graders ranked 1st place in the district for writing on our state test! I have also ranked in the top 5 for my reading scores and have taught students ranging from Gifted to nonverbal!
