Bio

My name is Rebecca and I've been in the education field for nearly 20 years as a paraprofessional, tutor, Director of Education, and Special Education Teacher. When I was young, I never wanted to be a teacher. It's too much school and work. However, it's what I was meant to do, and it's become something that brings me much joy and fulfillment. Personalization and relationships are important factors in the teacher/student dynamic. I try hard to establish positive rapport at the start and get to know each student so that I can tailor lessons to student need, strengths, and interests. Building student confidence with positive reinforcement fosters academic endurance and increased achievement. I would love to help you increase your self-confidence in your abilities and reach your academic goals! When I'm not teaching, I'm homeschooling and trying to keep up with my 3 very active boys (ages 10, 4, and 2).

Teacher Specialization

I hold a bachelor's in business management, a master's in special education and teaching credentials in California and Indiana, including an autism authorization and English Learner authorization. From my college days working as a paraprofessional, to working my way up to Director of Education at a private tutoring center, to the last 7 years as a Special Education Teacher at independent study charter schools, my experience has only increased my desire to help students be successful in school, college, and career. In addition to K-12 curriculum, I've taught college prep classes, life skills, and assisted high school students with their homework for various classes and transitions to adulthood by preparing them for a career and/or applying to college.
