Bio
Hi! My name is Ms. Winterman and I am excited to get started on a learning journey with your student! I have the ability to build a solid rapport with any student, making them feel comfortable and ready to get to work. I believe that reading should be fun! When you "get into" the characters and understand their motivations and feelings it makes reading more enjoyable. As a math teacher, I really try to hone in on number sense, problem solving and calculation. My students enjoy manipulating numbers to discover patterns and relationships between them.
Teacher Specialization
My experience includes 22 years teaching and tutoring all grades K-5 and 6-8 tutoring. 8 of these years were spent as a reading and math specialist, conducting extremely effective interventions and coaching teachers on how to help struggling students. I have specialized training in teaching emergent readers to be confident in both their decoding and comprehension skills. (12 masters level credits) I have a long history of helping students understand math and tutoring which began as a child!
