Bio
Hello! I am Mr. Cooper, an 8th grade Civics and Economics teacher. As a teacher, it is my goal to make learning fun and engaging to help students find joy in learning history as I did when I was their age. As a historian, it is my goal to help students understand the values of learning history and how to apply this knowledge to their own lives today. I love challenging students to think deeper and provide their own thoughts of what we learned. It is not just about learning history, but how to study history and think like a historian. During each session, it is my goal to understand the goals of students and help them achieve that goal and continue their growth as learners and as historians. I help make class fun with my not-so funny jokes and overtly optimistic attitude. As a history nerd, I will also take the time to help you take the steps to hopefully become a history nerd as well! I am looking forward to be working with you! :)
Teacher Specialization
This is my fourth year as a history teacher. I specialize in teaching 6th-12th grade social studies - my personal favorites being U.S. History, World History since the Age of Colonization, and World History in the 20th Century. I have a BS in Secondary Education: History. I am currently studying to earn a MA in History, emphasizing in North American and U.S. history.
