Hello! I’m Shanta Rhodes, and I love helping students discover the joy of learning and build confidence along the way. My teaching philosophy is simple: every child can learn when given the right tools, encouragement, and support. I use evidence-based strategies, adapt lessons to individual needs, and make learning engaging and meaningful. My approach is personalized, patient, and designed to make learning both effective and engaging for every student. Students describe me as patient, encouraging, and fun. I believe in celebrating progress and helping learners see their own potential because confidence is the key to success!
Teacher Specialization
With over 20 years of experience as a teacher, I specialize in helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing, and literacy, as well as supporting overall academic growth across K–8. My expertise includes early literacy, phonics, and comprehension, with training in evidence-based approaches such as the Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham methods. I also provide targeted support in English Language Arts, study skills, and academic writing. For students who need extra help, I use strategies from Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to close gaps and boost confidence. In addition to literacy, I have experience supporting elementary and middle school math, social studies, and test preparation. I hold a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, a master’s and bachelor’s in Elementary Education, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher.
