Bio
My journey to becoming a tutor has been shaped by a lifelong love of reading, writing, and learning. My diverse careers—working in book publishing, then journalism, then founding and running a children’s museum, before returning to school to become an English teacher—have all centered on a desire to inspire others through education. Tutoring (and teaching) allows me to share my skills and experiences in a meaningful way. I believe that my varied professional background gives me a unique perspective and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of reading and writing. Helping students develop these foundational skills is my way of equipping them for future success. As a mother of two and an avid reader and writer, I’ve seen firsthand how storytelling and self-expression can spark curiosity and foster growth. My motivation in education stems from a desire to create those moments of discovery for others.
Teacher Specialization
I had four years experience teaching college composition before becoming certified to teach ELA in grades 6th through 12th. My favorite genres are American literature of the mid-twentieth century and the British war poets. I enjoy creative writing, poetry, and journalism.
