Greetings! I'm Dr. Yolanda, and I look forward to working with you and having a great time learning together! We will collaborate to increase your knowledge and skills in your selected subject area(s). I have been serving as a tutor since I was a student in high school. Throughout college and my career, I have continued to serve as a tutor because I truly enjoy working with students to become confident learners. I believe it is important to assist students with building and increasing their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. These two skills will carry students very far in becoming confident and successful academically and socially. Foundational to a successful tutoring relationship is the building of trust and mutual respect. A little about me, I LOVE traveling, AND this year I visited my 50th country! I've lived in seven countries outside of the U.S., and I enjoy visiting museums, attending concerts, learning about different cultures, and trying international foods.
Teacher Specialization
I have served as an elementary teacher, middle school teacher, and high school teacher. At the elementary school level, I have taught all general education subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. At the middle and high school levels, I have taught English, journalism, and social studies.
