Bio
Hello Everyone, I am Ms. Zoe. I believe that learning should be fun. And I do this while engaging kids in learning through humor mixed with discipline. I am a fun, expressive teacher. My tutoring goal is to ignite the flame of inquiry and the joy of learning. I strive to create an enjoyable tutoring environment while encouraging students to do their best.
Teacher Specialization
My K-12 experiences include teaching all subjects to elementary students and teaching Spanish to secondary students. I focus on language development and have had success raising reading scores on standardized tests. I am certified teacher from California. My educational training is in teaching reading, teaching English, and teaching Spanish. I earned my BA from UCSD, received my Masters of Education, with a specialization in teaching reading, from UTEP and was awarded a PhD in Curriculum and Teacher Education from Stanford, with a specialization in teaching English Learners. I have taught K-12 students as well as trained teachers in teaching reading and English language arts in many locations - Texas, Nevada, Hawaii, Colorado, California and Micronesia. I created online curricula to teach reading to English Learners and have worked around the state of California to improve schools. I bring my knowledge and skills to teaching with high expectations for ALL students.
