Bio

Hi, my name is Abby and my passion is teaching students how to succeed in Reading and Math. My teaching philosophy is that every child can learn and grow if given the right teacher and learning environment. I strive to create a positive and fun learning environment where student learning and growth is celebrated. I create a conducive learning environment by playing learning games, taking the time to learn about each student to create rapport as well as challenging my students to create and achieve higher academic goals. I have been a certified special education teacher for the last 15 years in both the public and private school system. I have had the honor of teaching students and building their confidence and ability as their scores soar in reading, writing and math. I believe in collaboration with classroom teachers to best support all students.

Teacher Specialization

I specialize in Dyslexia and the affects it has in reading and math. I am certified in the Orton Gillingham teaching method as well as the Lindamood Bell comprehension platform. I've had great success helping students with Dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning disabilities. I have spent 20+ years in the special education field and am a certified special educator serving students in grades K-8. Seven of those years has not only been in the classroom but on virtual platforms; teaching online students in small groups or individually at home. I am currently tutoring students in reading and math in grades 2 - 10 utilizing multi-modalities of instruction.
