Bio
Hi, my name is Ms. Schmidt. I am excited to start this learning journey with you! After spending seven years helping high school learners with special needs, I’ve learned a thing or two about making learning fun and engaging. I’ve taught subjects like Algebra and Biology, always focusing on creating connections with my students. My goal is to make each lesson come alive by linking it to the things my learners love and enjoy. I believe that building positive relationships is the key to successful learning. That’s why I strive for a perfect mix of structure and flexibility in our sessions. With our one-on-one time, I can tailor lessons just for you, finding the best way to make learning stick! When I’m not busy tutoring, you can find me practicing yoga, walking in nature, or simply enjoying a sunny day at the beach. These hobbies not only help me stay centered but also inspire me to be a kinder, more joyful person. I'm looking forward to making our learning adventure fun and effective!
Teacher Specialization
I am a secondary special education teacher in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. I have seven years of experience at the high school level. I teach students grades 9-12 with mild to moderate disabilities in both general education and special education classroom settings. I currently provide itinerant instruction in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I also have experience providing itinerant instruction and/or resource room instruction in biology, English, social emotional learning, organizational skills, and behavior. Teaching is a second career for me. I hold bachelor degrees in nutrition/dietetics and psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. My teaching certification is through William Carey University.
