Bio
Hi! My name is Casey. I'm an experienced science educator with a background in ecology fieldwork. While I completed my B.S. in Ecology from UCSB, I specifically worked on restoring local creeks and rivers. After graduating from UCSB in 2021, I obtained my science teaching credential from Cal Poly, SLO. I have been teaching middle school and high school science since then, in addition to continuing to work as an ecologist with local non-profits. I absolutely love to incorporate my practical experiences as a field ecologist into my teaching, as it allows my students to understand the real-world impacts of what they're learning. My passion for making sure that science and math feel engaging, relevant, and fun in the classroom earned me the New Teacher of the Year Award for my county in 2023.
Teacher Specialization
As a certified secondary science teacher in the state of California, I am qualified to teach biology, life sciences, ecology, chemistry, and physics to grades 6th-12th. It is important to me that my students not only walk away from my classes or tutoring sessions with clarity of the material, but also with increased confidence and understanding of why the topics we covered are relevant in the real world. No matter whether you need support in understanding biology, chemistry, physics, or the math behind the science, I have both the academic and practical scientific background to help you thrive!
