Hello, I am Christie ! I enjoy reading, writing, and shopping. One interesting fact is that I am an only child. I chose to become a tutor to support students and families who may need additional help outside the school day. I believe that all students can learn. Education should empower individuals to think deeply, act compassionately, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world. During my tutoring sessions, my goal is to help students recognize their abilities and encourage them to excel. Building positive and meaningful relationships with students is one of the most powerful and foundational elements of effective teaching. When students feel genuinely seen, respected, and supported, they are more motivated to learn, take risks, and engage in the classroom community.

I am an educator with eighteen years of experience working in a large urban school district. I am a graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Due to my enjoyment of learning, I continued my education, earning a Master's Degree in School Administration from Gardner Webb University and a Master's of Education in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from UNC-Charlotte. I specialize in exceptional children's processes and am responsible for educating others on how to identify, evaluate, and provide exceptional children's services to students. I hold eight teaching certifications, including a National Board Certification, for children with various learning differences. I hold eight teaching certifications, including a National Board Certification as an Exceptional Children's Specialist. I am also a published curriculum developer with six curricular units. I have 10 years of virtual teaching experience with Pre-12.
