Bio
Hello! My name is Jessica. I have lived in the Wilmington, NC area for 20 years. When I’m not teaching students or coaching future teachers, you can find me at the gym in a Zumba class or tapping into my creative side through painting. I’m also a proud "dog mom" to a Chihuahua-Beagle named Latte! I believe learning should be an engaging adventure that builds both knowledge and real-world skills. I move beyond memorization, guiding your child through interdisciplinary projects that make abstract concepts relevant and exciting. I utilize multi-sensory techniques—integrating visual, interactive, and hands-on digital tools—to create a dynamic online classroom tailored to your child's unique learning style. Together, we co-create a personalized roadmap for your child's progress. By recognizing every achievement, we build confidence and resilience. I strive to create a "digital sanctuary" where your child feels seen, heard, and appreciated. I use their interests to captivate their learning.
Teacher Specialization
I have nineteen years of experience teaching grades 1 through 8. I have spent the last 6 years specializing in literacy and reading intervention at the elementary and middle school levels. Additionally, I have 6 years of experience tutoring online in group settings and individual settings. I also serve as an adjunct professor, where I coach and mentor pre-service teachers on the best practices in education. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (ESOL Endorsement) from Florida Atlantic University and a Masters in Reading from Nova Southeastern University. I am professionally certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and as a Reading Specialist (K-12).
