Bio
Hi! My name is Ms. Julie. I am excited to start a learning journey with you! I pride myself on making learning fun and engaging. To make this happen, I am constantly looking for new ways to reach my learners. The use of manipulatives and new teaching strategies such as Orton-Gillingham, help make this possible. I regularly attend trainings, to ensure I am current with the latest methodologies. I studied French throughout my high school and college years, and feel comfortable teaching and tutoring in the language. My hard work and dedication to teaching has been recognized by my peers as well as by teacher organizations. I have received many awards including: Teacher of the Year from my school, Teacher of the Month for the CA State Agriculture in the Classroom organization and a Key Woman Educator award from Delta Kappa Gamma.
Teacher Specialization
I have over 26 years of teaching experience. During my extensive teaching career, I have taught all grades from Pre-K thru 8th grade, both online and in a traditional classroom setting. As an elementary teacher, I am trained in multiple subjects. These include: math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and teaching English to non-native speakers (2nd language learners). As a tutor, I have taught pre-k-9th grade. I continue to learn by attending conferences and webinars. I have special certifications in teaching reading (Orton-Gillingham), science, English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL), Gifted/Talented (GATE/GTP) as well as a K-12 ESE (Special. Ed.) credential. My undergraduate degree is in Biology, and I have a graduate degree in Education. I have valid teaching credentials in the states of CA and FL. Both are K-6 with special authorizations attached to each.
