Bio
My name is Ms. Picazo-Purcell and I am so excited to meet you, learn your goals, and assist and guide students in their successful education journey! I have 9+ years of experience in online education following 2+ years in the traditional classroom. I love the opportunity to discuss and assist student with those tricky concepts in casual/layman's words making it more clearly understood. I believe in meeting students where they are and respecting their unique needs. Though I am not as fluent as I should be, I am experienced in working with Spanish speaking English language learners and their learning coordinators/parents/guardians in order to discuss any personalized struggles and goals and strategies that I can use to better serve my students. Much of my background has been in the field of Social Studies, some in English and a variety of other subjects; I am certified 8th-12th grade but have taught and am happy to assist in younger grade levels as well.
Teacher Specialization
I began my teaching career in a physical Brick&Mortar high school and have experience teaching AP US History, US History, World History, and Geography. I worked for 1 year also as an SEIA (Special Education Instructional Assistant) for high school students. 2 years were spent as a substitute teacher serving all ages K-12th grade. I have been in the virtual classroom for over 9 years and gained more experience in Government, Economics, World History, Anthropology, and Contemporary World Issues.
