Bio

Hello, My name is Mrs. LaHuis. I am a current teacher at MGLVA, part of STRIDE K12. I believe that all students are special in their own way. First and foremost, I believe in building relationships with my students, which means, I ask them a lot of questions. I want them to know that I truly care about them and that they are in a safe place. I want to know what they feel they are struggling with the most. I want to work with them in ways that make sense to them. I am a hands-on teacher and aim for the student to do their part so I can see where the misconception or struggle is and we can change it to success. I create a warm and loving environment where the student feels they can take risks and express themselves freely. I teach/tutor to the student's individual needs in a fun and exciting way, because who wants to dread class?! My goal, with each student, is for them to be successful and proud of themselves. I aim for them to successfully become a lifelong learner.

Teacher Specialization

I have tutored online for four years. I have tutored English, Writing, Social Studies, History, Science and Math. As a teacher both online and in-person, I use different online tools within the classroom to practice and extend the student's knowledge in a fun way. I use Blooket, Nearpod, Canva, and many other programs to help your student learn in an exciting environment. I ask questions to understand where my student's thinking is and how they got to the answer they did, then we fix it.
