Bio

I am Kelsey Richards, and I have always been an educator at heart. I find joy in supporting all students with personalized, student-centered instruction and constructive feedback as we work together toward their individualized goals. I believe that everyone can be successful. I want to meet your child where they are and support them with achieving the academic goals (e.g., learning skills in a content area) in addition to non-academic goals (e.g., strengthening problem solving skills) that they have. As we work together, I will incorporate personal interests, strengths, and areas for growth into my instructional approach. Developing a positive and meaningful relationship with students is fundamental to making significant growth. I will provide a safe learning environment to foster growth, and I will seek to understand your child, getting to know who they are as their authentic selves as I support them in meeting their individual needs.

Teacher Specialization

For 10 years, I was a general education teacher, and I was an interventionist for one year within the same school that I had previously taught. I also have 19 additional credit hours in Education professional development courses. I have experience with teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades in the classroom, and I have experience working with primary, middle, and high school age students. Between Spring of 2020 and Winter of 2020, I had experience with teaching remotely due to COVID. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and I have a minor in Psychology. I have also completed a course in the Science of Reading.
