Bio
My name is Kristian Bucklew, I hold a Master’s degree in Education with certifications in Multicategorical Special Education, Autism, and Biology from Fairmont State University, and a Bachelor’s in Multidisciplinary Studies from West Virginia University with minors in Communications, Native American Studies, and Sport and Exercise Psychology. I am passionate about making a meaningful difference in my students' lives and continuously strive to create supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environments. My educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that all students can learn when given the right support, structure, and encouragement. I focus on meeting learners where they are—academically, emotionally, and developmentally—and tailor my instruction to fit their individual needs and strengths. My tutoring goals go beyond improving grades. I aim to build confidence, foster independence, and help students develop critical thinking skills that will benefit them beyond the class.
Teacher Specialization
I am a dedicated special education teacher with over 12 years of experience working with diverse student populations across West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach in various settings—from public schools and charter schools to summer and remote education programs. I am starting my fourth year with West Virginia Virtual Academy working with the special programs department to provide students of West Virginia an engaging education that creates life long learners. I've supported students in inclusive classrooms, led specialized autism programs, and guided at-risk youth during summer sessions. My teaching approach centers on compassion, structure, and adapting strategies to meet individual student needs. In addition to classroom instruction, I’ve worked as an autism mentor and contributed to early childhood and STEM enrichment programs, helping students prepare for academic success at all stages.
