Bio
My name is Patrick Jarrett, and I am a teacher of 19 years experience. Outside of my teaching, I am married to my wife, for the past 16 years, and we have a baby on the way, after years of hope. We have two dogs. I am a big time Pitt fan, as well as a Christmas fanatic! My Educational Philosophy is simple. I want students to learn Mathematics and I will gladly find whatever it takes to get through to a student, as no two students learn exactly the same way! I see myself as a facilitator of learning, as the student has come for help and need to find a way to get the student to understand. My tutoring goals are to have the student understand and if possible, appreciate Mathematics! I build relationships by being friendly, patient and understanding. I am on the spectrum myself so I like to think I understand students with disabilities fairly well. I look forward to working with you!
Teacher Specialization
I am a teacher with 19 years of professional experience! I student-taught Middle School Math, and then became a High School Math teacher where I worked for ten years. In my final three years of teaching High School, I also worked as an adjunct instructor at the Community College level, and since 2017, have been a full time instructor of Mathematics at the Community College level! Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I have become quite effective at teaching online as well. I can teach and tutor all levels of Math up through Calculus 1 and Statistics. I have worked with students of many ages, from as young as 4th grade, up through College aged students. I have a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh, and an M.Ed in Mathematics from James Madison University.
