Hi I'm Rica! I was born and raised in the Philippines, where I also first began my teaching career. In 2017, I left my comfort zone and got a job in Las Vegas, NV as a Special Education Teacher. Now that I'm in Georgia, I hope to continue helping students celebrate the joy of learning. Solving jigsaw puzzles is a hobby of mine that helps me practice my analytical skills - a skill I hope to impart to my students. I believe that students learn best when they are motivated and interested. I incorporate student interests in my lessons to make it more engaging. I aim to help students learn by using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I ensure that my class is a safe space where mistakes are welcomed and milestones are celebrated.
Teacher Specialization
I have been a teacher ever since I graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree of Elementary Education majoring in Special Education. It's been 8 years of being a special education teacher! I taught in the Philippines for 3 years before moving to the United States in 2017. I have worked in a therapy center, an international school, and a public magnet school. Catering to a learner's needs is what I do best!
