Bio
As a dedicated and versatile educator with many years of experience, I believe that all students can achieve at high academic levels when provided with the right support, engaging instruction, and a nurturing learning environment. Throughout my long-standing career in education, I have gained extensive knowledge of curriculum, programs and educational plans for scholars. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, equity-driven, and rooted in research-based practices. Over the years, I’ve learned that every child learns in their own unique way and that’s what makes teaching so rewarding! I love finding creative, hands-on ways to make learning clear, engaging, and fun. My goal is to ensure equitable access to high-quality instruction so all scholars can achieve academic excellence. I hope to meet each student’s unique learning needs through scaffolded instruction.
Teacher Specialization
As an instructional leader with over 20 years of experience, I have taught grades 2–6 and supported diverse learners through classroom instruction and targeted interventions. My experience includes providing summer school intervention for grades 5–6 and individualized home instruction for scholars with medical exemptions to prevent learning loss. I have also facilitated adult education classes to help learners earn their High School Equivalency (GED) diploma, demonstrating my commitment to lifelong learning. Currently as a NYC Model Teacher, I lead and facilitate critical reflection on instructional strategies and their impact on student learning, guiding colleagues in implementing effective, research-based practices in ELA and Mathematics. I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, Master’s degree in Special Education and Certificates of Advanced Study in School Building and School District Leader.
