Bio
My name is Sydney and I've been teaching for five years. I love to watch students grow and one of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing students' faces light up when they learn something new. I love getting to know students and forming relationships with them, so I can make the learning fun, engaging, and individually tailored to them and the goals they're working towards. I also try to keep student engagement high by teaching lessons that are interactive, student-centered, and integrate student's personal interests. I'd love to help your student make progress and achieve their goals!
Teacher Specialization
My favorite students to teach are elementary students! I have a degree in Elementary Education and I taught 1st grade for four years. During this time, I provided full classroom instruction in reading, math, social studies, and science. I have virtually tutored students in the K-5 range for two years now. While I love teaching all subjects, my favorite is teaching young students how to read. I'm trained in Science of Reading, so I have knowledge and experience in implementing new research in teaching kids how to read using a foundation of phonics. During my time in the classroom, I also taught Tier 3 reading and math intervention groups to catch at-risk students back up to grade level. I have experience working with students that have ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and giftedness. I also have an EL endorsement, so if your student is multilingual and knows more than one language, we will be a great fit!
