Bio
Hi everyone! I am Tobin, and I am currently a middle school math teacher in Cherokee, North Carolina. I am a certified instructor for grades 6 through 9 mathematics, and am currently teaching 7th grade. I love teaching because, even after graduating from college, I still enjoy learning new concepts and finding new ways to meet each student’s unique learning needs. I am an avid traveler, and my goal is to visit all 50 states (up to 31!). I am also a proud Appalachian State University alumnus (May 2025) and graduated with a 3.87 GPA. When I teach, I like to connect students' interests to each lesson to show that math is part of everyday life and many careers, not just a topic confined to school.
Teacher Specialization
I am currently a first-year teacher in Cherokee Central Schools, having started in July 2025. I am teaching 7th-grade mathematics in a co-teaching and inclusion classroom. Over the course of my studies, I had field experiences in 6th-grade math, 7th-grade science, and 8th-grade science. I have also spent summers working as an inclusion counselor, a special needs counselor, and a summer school paraprofessional for students with profound needs. Since high school, I have tutored various math subjects ranging from 1st grade through 10th grade, with experience in both in-person and virtual teaching.
