Bio
I started in elementary education, got my math endorsement, then taught middle and high school math. One of my proudest accomplishments is when I took scholars to Washington state to participate in NavOps. My educational philosophy is that education is a two-way effort, and that scholars will learn if they feel validated and welcome. I believe that all scholars will learn, just at different rates and using different approaches. I will provide feedback based on scholars' growth. I believe that tutors must be flexible and willing to use various strategies. I want scholars to grow, both academically and being willing to persevere when confronted with challenges. I have also build great relationships with my scholars, staying after school and working with athletes. I treat all scholars with respect and fairness. I love coaching and watching sports. I love being around children and especially love Math. I also love gardening and using my harvest and sharing with others.
Teacher Specialization
I used Google classrooms during and after COVID. I also virtually taught during the pandemic, and my school continued to use these programs for virtual days throughout the school year. I have been in education since 1999, teaching in a residential placement facility before obtaining my teaching license in 2001. Since 2001, I have taught at the elementary education level for 15 years(Grades 5 and 1), and the middle and high school levels for 7 years, specializing in Mathematics. I have my Bachelors in education and a math endorsement in 8-12, having taught Algebra, Algebra II, and Geometry. I also have a Master's degree in School Leadership.
