Bio
My name is Crisi Skammel Temple and teaching has been the most rewarding experience for me because it allows me to connect to students at their level, which is my ultimate goal, accommodating students with varying learning styles and needs. As a teacher, I aim to inspire my students through creative, engaging, and student-centered material that gets them thinking about HOW and WHY we arrive at answers. My class is an inclusive and safe space, and I believe that students can only learn if they are seen and heard as individuals and relate to the material being taught. I strive to be a compassionate teacher that my students trust and relate to, and I enjoy incorporating their passion and interests into my creative lessons. My lessons include getting-to-know-you activities so that each student feels comfortable and seen, games that allow students to engage with the material in fun ways, and differentiated instruction that reaches a variety of learners.
Teacher Specialization
I began my career as a Kindergarten teacher, which I did for 8 years. I earned my BA in English Education in 2019, and have certifications to work with ESL and special needs students. I have taught 9th grade, ELD, and 8th grade, and I am currently teaching 7th grade ELA at Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan. I have tutored students in reading and writing at the secondary level for many years, including ESL and special learners. I currently tutor 3 times a week at HVAM in Reading and Writing.
