My name is Crystal Thacker and I'm looking forward to begin my tutoring with Stride. My educational philosophy is surrounded around the students. The students are at the center of my direction, passion, and my goals. As a teacher, I am constantly reflecting on ways that I can improve and help my students to improve. I personally believe that although children differ in the predispositions to learn and grow, they all can learn. In regard to beliefs about students, it is crucial that I convey positive attitudes toward my students. It is also vital that I maintain a belief that they all can, and will, learn. It is my goal to help students grow and master material while showing patience and providing a positive experience.
Teacher Specialization
I have just completed my 12th year in education. As an undergraduate, I studied English. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in English/Secondary Education, I went on to study Curriculum and Instruction. I earned my Masters and then went on to gain my Doctorate in Educational Supervision/Administration. My experience is in the middle school classroom. I've taught middle school English for 12 years. Specifically, I've worked with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
