Bio
I am an experienced English educator with 21 years of teaching middle and high school students. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English and am certified to teach grades 6–12. During my career, I served as the Senior English Team Lead for 10 years and was honored as a Favorite Teacher in 2010. I have taught students at all levels, including students receiving special education services, and I believe every learner deserves the opportunity to experience success. My teaching philosophy is centered on building relationships, maintaining high expectations, and creating a supportive classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks. I am approachable, encouraging, and always open to learning something new from my students. My goal is for every student to grow in confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and leave my classroom knowing they are capable of succeeding.
Teacher Specialization
My area of specialization is secondary English language arts, with 21 years of experience teaching students in grades 6–12. I specialize in reading comprehension, writing instruction, literary analysis, grammar, and effective communication. I have taught students across a wide range of academic levels, including students receiving special education services, and I am skilled at adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs. My experience also includes serving as Senior English Team Lead for 10 years, where I supported curriculum planning, instructional consistency, and teacher collaboration. I am especially committed to creating an approachable, encouraging classroom in which students build confidence, strengthen their English skills, and experience meaningful academic success.
