Bio
My name is Dawn Chaney and I am a passionate and experienced educator of 24 years. I greatly enjoy the arts, but I have extensive skills in many subject areas. I have some moderate skill in American Sign Language and Spanish, and really enjoy learning and improving on my skills. I find joy in making an impact in the lives of students, and have a very patient and calm teaching style. I enjoy helping students grow and succeed in their areas of struggle. Students benefit from differentiated instruction, because not all students learn in the same manner or respond to a single teaching strategy. It is important to meet the student where they are, both intellectually and mentally. I am committed to student growth. Directing students on how to utilize more critical thinking and creativity in their work will ensure greater achievement. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

As a middle school teacher, I have taught Social Studies, ELA and Visual Arts. I am certified in Visual Arts K-12, Social Science 5-9 and Elementary Education. In addition, I worked for several years teaching Adult Basic Education during after school hours.
