Bio

Hello My name is Jan Houston. My favorite subjects to teach are Science, Math, Art, and Vocational Skills. I have three children of my own each with a unique educational need. I believe that all children are able to learn with the right approach. Which each unique student there is a unique to support their educational needs. As a tutor I look at the students strengths and weakness so we can fill the gaps. Helping student build their confidence in education and using their problem solving skills for future work. I learn about the student interest to build relationships. A student should know they are heard and understood to build trust in the person they learning from. It is important to have trust and confidence between student and teacher.

Teacher Specialization

I have 8 years in education. I worked as a long term substitute in elementary. As a long term substitute I worked as a supportive system for students that needed extra support or tutoring through the school day. I pulled students into small groups and supported them during class time. I worked as a special education teacher and co-teacher for 5 years in the high school. In the special education I worked with students with very unique disabilities and educational needs.
