Bio
Hi! My name is Nicole Basile and I currently live in Pennsylvania. I have two kids who are in High School, so I spend my time out of the classroom at their activities, watching the marching band at football games, cheering on the tennis team, and enjoying dance recitals. As a tutor, I try to find where your missing detail in understanding is, so I start with a lot of questions to try to get you to explain your thinking and see where I can help fill in any gaps or adjust any misconceptions. With math and science, there is often a lot of problem solving, so I'll be asking you to explain how you're solving the problem. I often find you know more than you realize! This also helps keep our time together the most effective, as I'm not teaching you what you already know. I truly enjoy working one-on-one with students to help them find that "lightbulb" moment. I look forward to working with you to help understand math and science concepts!
Teacher Specialization
I have Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and German and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught for 20+ years in Maryland and Pennsylvania, teaching many grade levels and subjects of science and math from middle school physical science to AP chemistry, including forensic science, environmental science, ESOL earth science, Geometry, Algebra, and even college chemistry as an adjunct instructor at a local university. I have experience teaching online for the past two years.
