Bio

I have been in the education field for 22 years and it has been such a joy and pleasure. I always knew, even from a young age, that I wanted to be a teacher. Working with and helping students find their own love of learning has been my goal since I had my first classroom. Seeing that "light bulb" moment with so many of my students has been the reason that I keep going. To know that I have helped my students, many who needed extra help and support, finally understand or grasp something is the most amazing feeling in the world. I also like to make sure that my students have fun while learning, because who doesn't like having a little fun now and then? Over the past 22 years, I have been a classroom teacher, reading specialist, curriculum specialist, new teacher mentor, and tutor. I have also had the privilege of helping a charter school in North Carolina open its doors and bringing it to a local area that needed it. I hope to continue teaching for as long as I can!

Teacher Specialization

Throughout my education, I have worked as a classroom teacher, teaching grades 1st through high school in subjects like ELA/Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Phonics, History, and College Preparedness. I have also been able to work as a Reading Specialist for grades K-8, a Curriculum Specialist/Literacy Coach, and a Beginning Teacher Mentor, working with new teachers in their first three years in a classroom.
