Bio
Hi, I'm Rebecca and I love teaching math! From a young age, I was called to help others learn and love this beautiful subject. As your personal math tutor, you can expect high quality instruction, frequent checks for understanding, and immediate feedback. My goal is to help you reach your specific learning goals, whether it is filling in gaps or moving ahead of your peers. I believe all students possess "seeds of greatness" and are capable of mastering mathematics with the right teacher. I see it as my job to water those seeds so they can grow! Like Planet Fitness, my classroom is the "No Judgment Zone"! Ask any question in a safe, inviting, and engaging environment. No student is too low or too difficult to reach to achieve the success they want and strive for.
Teacher Specialization
Since high school, I have been a math tutor. In college, I continued to study mathematics and mathematics teaching to become a certified professional, concentrating in secondary math (grades 6-12). Working in both the public and private sectors of education, including homeschools and higher ed., I have tutored 1st grade to college math. The college courses I taught were hybrid (online and in person) for 12 years before moving exclusively online since 2020. Algebra 1 is my specialization, with proven results. My algebra 1 students at Houston ISD last year rose an average of 19.1 % over their previous year's End-of-Course exam, with 34% achieving a master's score. Regardless of backgrounds and learning gaps, my students have proven that anyone can learn algebra and be successful with the right teacher. Foundational math is also a passion that I love to teach! I believe K-8 is most important as it lays the foundation for understanding and enjoying abstract mathematics.
