Bio

Hello! I love teaching, tutoring, technology, and math. I began teaching in a corporate technology environment and realized quickly that I loved helping people of all ages learn new things. I love technology and interactive lessons which is why I enjoy teaching online where I can utilize creative tech tools. I grew up in Kentucky and now live in Virginia. Currently. I am an interventionist in a public school helping students learn phonics and gain a love for reading. My other likes are cats, UK basketball, gymnastics, and milk chocolate! Through tutoring I like to build confidence in each student. I encourage questions and emphasize that no question is a bad one. My goal is to help students realize that learning is a process that can often be challenging while at the same time can also be exciting and fun. I look forward to learning what my students are passionate about and finding ways to connect the lesson to something meaningful in their life.

Teacher Specialization

My teaching career started as a technology teacher for a corporation 30 years ago. I have a B.S. in Computer Information Systems, and a M.A. in Teaching. I have experience teaching private, public, online, and homeschooling students. These various learning settings have enabled me to connect with students from all backgrounds with all types of learning needs. Tutoring, much like homeschooling, is where I am best able to help each student gain the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed.
